Early Practice in Animation Storyboards 7

Part 2 of 2 of a very long … well it’s not a single shot, but it comes across as a single shot when in animatic stage.  This one is probably my favorite of this “first scene” batch as I have a soft spot for racking focus.

Early Practice in Animation Storyboards 5

One very long shot featuring a dog running behind a fence.  The camera follows until the end of the fence and pulls out to reveal both the short lady walking into frame and the house in the distance.  Most complicated.

Something Different – Early Practice in Animation Storyboarding

Over the next several days I’m posting 3 scenes from an animated movie I storyboarded a few years ago.  It was a movie of my own creation, one I started to write and board for fun and practice.  I won’t say all my shot and direction choices are entirely successful (it was my first attempt at making a sustained narrative after all) but there is still plenty of worth here.

I am just posting the images.  Normally these would be accompanied by character dialogue, camera, and script notes.

When Owl was a Dude

This can also be considered an early version of the female hero character Owl.  I co-opted the design when I realized owls are much easier to draw than finches.
